Jesse Gates kicked in a side door of the Southside Freewill Baptist Church in Bolling Springs, S.C with a shotgun planning to kill people and the worshippers jumped him and  not one person was killed.

Adam Lanza entered the Newtown, Connecticut school with an AR-15 planning to kill people and 10 minutes later there were 26 people dead from multiple bullets being fired into their bodies.

The U.S. with 5% of the world population owns 50% of the guns in the world, has three times the rate of gun ownership (9 of 10) of other countries and there are three times more gun killings in the U.S than in other countries.

From 1979 to 1997 more American civilians were killed with guns-651,697- than have been killed in all of America’s wars!

The NRA Asa Hutchinson plan of placing guns in the hands of teacher/policemen is a plan to sell guns and would increase the number of gun killings in schools.  Had the 145,000 teachers in 2007-8 who were attacked by students had guns the teacher’s guns could have created 145,000 mass gun killings.  Asa where will you get the millions to buy the guns and how will you make us safe at church and at the movies?

If you were in any public building such as a school or church with 25 other people would your chance of surviving an attack be better if your attacker has a single shot shot-gun/knife/hammer/ax or an AR 15 which shoots 500 bullets a minute? All of those at Southside Freewill Baptist Church survived the shotgun attack of Jesse Gates.  None of the students in the room at Newtown survived the AR 15 attack of Adam Lanza

Americans would be safer and the number of people killed could be greatly reduced if civilian ownership of military weapons such as the AR 15 were banned

Call or write your congressman and tell him you support  banning civilian ownership of military weapons such as the AR 15 and he should stand up to the fear mongering misleading NRA Asa.

NRA USES MASS KILLINGS TO SELL GUNS

Gun sales increased 60% after Jared Loughner killed 6 people and wounded 12 others with a gun on a Tuscon, Az grocery parking lot  on 1/8/11.

Gun sales increased 41% after James Holmes killed 12 people and injured 58 others with a gun holding 100 bullets  in a Aurora, Co theater on 7/20/12.

Gun sales spiked across the U.S 200% to 400%  after Adam Lanza  killed 20 6-8 year schoolchildren at Newton, Ct  on December 14, 2012  with a gun that would shoot 500 bullets a minute. 

What a sad day in America when mass gun killings of innocent people are opportunities for the gun manufacturers to make millions of dollars drenched with the blood of  those innocent slaughtered people.

An average of 8,000 new members a day joined the NRA after the Newtown mass shooting--an increase of over 200,000 to date. 

What a sad day in America when the NRA exploits  mass gun killings to increase its membership and add millions of dollars to its political slush fund.

Former president G.H.W. Bush, a NRA life member, on May 13, 1993 resigned from the NRA because the NRA spokesman Wayne LaPierre  had viciously slandered  law enforcement officials as “jack booted thugs” “wearing Nazi bucket helmets and black storm trooper uniforms” who “harass, intimidate, even murder law abiding citizens.”

The NRA correctly viewed the Newtown tragedy as another opportunity to sell thousands of guns and sign up thousands of new members and make millions of dollars for the NRA and the gun manufacturers. How?  LaPierre  said “put armed police officers (jack booted thugs his description) in every school.”

NRA members like Bush should resign their membership and stop sending millions of their dollars to an organization that exploits the mass killing of innocent people to sell guns. and which refers to our police as “jack booted thugs.”

Please join Millions of Americans who are standing up against the fear mongering, gun selling NRA and support laws which will reduce the numbers of mass killings and make America safer.

KNIFE AND AR-15

About 1pm on December 8, 1986 while at work I came face to face with a mentally unstable person with a knife in a drawn right hand.  Being fleet of foot I ran from my office to a place of safety, with my knife wielding would be attacker in hot pursuit a few steps behind, and along with my 25-30 coworkers avoided being killed or body injury.

Had my knife wielding would be attacker entered the building where I worked and confronted me face to face with an AR-15 I would not be writing this letter and perhaps my 25-30 coworkers like the 26 children and teachers at Newtown on December 14, 2012 would have also been killed.

Reasonable people should conclude if the mentally unstable Adam Lanza had entered the Newtown school on December14, 2012 with a knife or any weapon other than an AR-15 to do his killing it is possible all or many of the 26 killed would be alive today.

As a citizen urge your  elected officials to stand up to the NRA and ban civilian ownership of the AR-15 and similar assault weapons which are suitable only for military

A TEN MINUTE KILLING SPREE

On December 14, 2012 a mentally disturbed Adam Lanza  entered the Newtown Connecticut elementary school with a AR-15, used in combat,  which could fire 500 bullets a minute planning to kill people in that school.  Ten minutes later twenty 6 and 7 year old schoolchildren and six teachers were dead from multiple bullets being fired into their bodies.

On December 14, 2012 the same Adam Lanza enters the same school with a knife planning to kill people in that school.  Ten minutes later do you believe  twenty 6 and 7 year old schoolchildren and six teachers would have been dead from multiple stab wounds to their bodies? 

On December 14, 2012 the same Adam Lanza enters the same school with a single shot shotgun or rifle used for hunting planning to kill people in that school.  Ten minutes later do you believe twenty 6 and 7 year old schoolchildren and 6 teachers would have been dead from multiple bullets being fired into their bodies?

We read in Genesis that Cain killed his brother Abel and reasonable people expect killings even mass killings will always be with us.  Caring Americans are concerned about the number of killings with guns, especially the frequency of mass killings  in schools.  Everyone agrees the causes for these mass school killings are complex and without a simple solution.

If you were one of 26 people in a room with a person intending to kill everyone in the room would your believe your chance of survival better if the killer had in his hands (1)AR-15 (2)knife(3)a single shot shotgun or rifle. 

Do you believe 1 maybe 5 perhaps 10 of the 26 would be able to escape during the added time it would take the killer to stab each or reload aim and shoot each victim?

As long as there are people –people will be killing people.  Caring people believe the number of people killed could be reduced if AR-15’s and other guns suitable only for combat were banned from civilian ownership.

Ask your Congressman to ban combat guns from civilian ownership.

ASSAULT GUNS –AMERICAN GUN CASUALTIES

Assault guns fire 500 rounds per minute and were invented for use by soldiers in combat.  Research and development of assault guns began about 1910 and the last major step in their development was when the U.S Army adopted the AR-15 Colt M-16 in the late 1950’s.

The NRA gun lobby would have you believe Americans cannot protect their families and their homes if you ban AR-15 assault guns from civilian ownership.  If that is true how did Americans protect their families and homes for over 100 years before the AR-15 was invented?

The rate of gun ownership in the U.S is 89 per 100.   No other country has a rate close to that.  In Austria, France, Germany, Norway and Sweden the rate is 30-32 guns per 100. The U.S is 5% of the world population and owns, 50% of the world’s guns (300 million). 50 percent of adult Republicans and 22 per cent of adult Democrats owned guns in 2010.

In the U.S the rate of gun homicides per year is 3.2 per 100,000 residents. In Switzerland the rate is 0.5 per 100,000, Ireland and Canada 0.4, Sweden and Finland 0.2, New Zealand Spain and Germany 0.1 and 0 in Japan.

Is it just coincidental that Americans own three times more guns and have three times more gun homicides than people living in other countries or could a reasonable person  conclude three times more guns result in three times more gun homicides?

Are Americans three times more likely to be killers than people in other countries?

From 1979 to 1997 651,697 Americans were killed with guns---more than all the soldiers killed in all of America’s wars.  

Parents, teachers, rabbis, priests, coaches and everyone shocked by the number of school children killed with guns which fire 500 rounds a minute should unite and ban civilian ownership of such guns thereby reducing the number of guns available to perpetuate these senseless killings.

Ask your Congressman to stand up to the NRA and vote to ban assault guns from civilian ownership and save lives.
